Arqray Twin Muffler Exhaust

I've just installed the Arqray Twin Muffler exhaust. Its a Super Stock SCCA legal exhaust because it doesn't require cutting or modifying the body to fit. The install was pretty easy, about 2 hours. Out of the box it sounds deeper. The butt dyno isn't sensitive enough to measure, however from dyno graphs I've seen it's good for 4whp. The main reason I got it was because it's lighter than that stock exhaust, but the sound is a big plus, it's actually very nice, not too loud. For a good discussion thread on installing any aftermarket exhaust on the Lotus Elise.

Recently we put together a Toyota Vios. It's quite impressive considering the fact that it's just a 4 door family sedan.

This car was entirely built by us (though we outsourced the custom stainless steel piping fabrications). It's still running its stock ECU but we wired it up with a Greddy e-Manage Piggyback ECU and a MAP sensor.

Do you find that the standard Lamborghini Gallardo LP-540-4 has too short a name? Or too many driven wheels? Is it too common? Does it not have enough Balboni?

Well friend, has your ship ever come in! Lamborghini just announced a special-edition Gallardo, called the LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni. Let's break that down for you.

The "550" stands is the horsepower output of the 'boni's 5.2-liter V10 engine.

The "2" means that unlike other Gallardos, this Balboni edition has but two driven wheels (that would be the rear ones, if you were wondering). Lamborghini says, "...controlled oversteer is no problem." Indeed, it's typically the other variety of oversteer that concerns us.

The "Valentino Balboni" stands for Valentino Balboni. Balboni is the legendary Lamborghini test driver that's been with the company since old man Lamborghini hired him in 1967. (He's the one on the left in the picture above.)

What else do you want to know? The suspension was modified for duty in the Balboni. There will be only 250 constructed. The suggested retail price in the U.S. is $219,800. All Balboni's come with the white-and-gold stripes as seen here, regardless of which of the eight body colors one chooses. The interior has more leather than a standard Gallardo and with the white stripes in the seats looks a bit like a 2010 Mustang GT. We presume that was unintentional.

Inside Line tests hundreds of vehicles a year, but not every vehicle gets a full write-up. The numbers still tell a story, though, so we present "IL Track Tested." It's a quick rundown of all the data we collected at the track, along with comments direct from the test drivers. Enjoy.

It was one of the original performance hatchbacks and it has survived for more than two decades in various states of tune. Offered for the first time as a sedan in 2006 as a 2007 model, the Honda Civic Si has been largely overshadowed by the more powerful sport sedans from Mitsubishi and Subaru.

Sure, they're faster, but they're also heavier and more expensive. The Civic Si remains one of the few lightweight performance cars that makes the best of a high-revving four-cylinder engine. In this case, it's a 197-horsepower 2.0-liter with dual overhead cams and Honda's i-VTEC system.

All Civics received a mild face-lift for 2009, but this Si is no faster, as all the upgrades were either cosmetic or electronic. Still, with a six-speed manual transmission, limited-slip differential and an 8,000 rpm redline, the Si remains a performance bargain for $23K. Acceleration Comments: As usual, getting the right launch means finding the optimal spin-to-bog tipping point. Very noticeable VTEC cam phasing. Shifter is brilliant and quick, with well-defined gates. Too bad about the 2nd-gear ratio hitting the rev limiter before 60 mph and necessitating a shift to 3rd. Love the sound of this engine.

Braking Comments: Ultra-consistent distances and fade-free stops, although we did smell the brakes after both the deceleration and acceleration runs. Adequate pedal feel and easy to modulate in everyday driving, too.

Handling Comments: Skid pad: Stability control closes the throttle: no brake application, but it still grips rather well. With stability off, the Si responds only slightly to throttle input/output. Holds a line very well with mild understeer. Overall very good balance. Steering feels spring-loaded; offers some feel but not much. Slalom: Stability control feels pretty crude here with abrupt brake application. Shutting the VSA off releases the chassis' full potential which is astoundingly good. Lightning-quick reflexes with immediate weight transfer. This car does exactly what it's told to do. Very little roll and the limited-slip differential makes it easy to exit the last cone under full throttle.

The Alfa Romeo Competizione is a sports car produced by Italian automaker Alfa Romeo. It was first presented as a concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show and later released for sale for the 2007 model year.

Performance:

It is fitted with specially developed 20 inch tyres: 245/35 at the front and 285/35 at the rear, fitted on perforated rims in fluid moulded aluminium. The 8C brakes have been called "phenomenal" by Road & Track magazine, with a stopping distance of 32 metres (105.0 ft), when travelling at an initial speed of 97 kilometres per hour (60 mph). The official top speed is announced to be 292 kilometres per hour (181 mph) but it might be higher, with estimations that it could be around 306 kilometres per hour (190 mph) according to the Road & Track magazine. An Alfa Romeo engineer also stated that it is faster than announced top speed..
